Do you love spending time outside? Do you want to get more involved in your community but don’t know how? Are you interested in meeting like-minded youth who are passionate about the environment? This program will offer all that and more!
Over the course of this 3-day program, there will be a combination of educational, practical, and just-for-fun activities. You will have the opportunity to assist with fieldwork/environmental research; and gain skills in community engagement, networking, and outreach; as well as learn how to plan and execute an environmental project or outreach event from start to finish. The program will also include opportunities for structured and unstructured fun and socializing. Highlights include exploring the Town of Mahone Bay through an Ocean Friendly scavenger hunt, group supper/evening activities, and time to explore and relax in the natural environment. We hope you leave the program feeling empowered and inspired to make a difference in your community and able to identify a local network of supports and resources to assist you in doing so.
Monday we will be conducting fieldwork in the Hebbville area (drop-off at the Blarney Stone Restaurant, pick-up location TBA). Tuesday and Wednesday will be spent in Mahone Bay (drop off and pick up at the Mahone Bay Centre, 45 School St.).
Included in the cost:
· 3 fun-filled days of leadership, learning, and environmental action
· One snack each day (participants must bring their own lunch and any additional snacks)
· Supper and evening snack provided on Tuesday
